The Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation had the pleasure of hosting and engaging in a very interactive meeting with the Minister for Employment, Productivity & Industrial Relations, Hon. Agni Deo Singh this morning.
Board President Mr. Vinay Narsey thanked the Hon. Minister for his visit and discussed on the role of FCEF, and how FCEF can work together with the Ministry for the productivity of the Private Sectors in Fiji.
The private sector views itself as a partner of the Government and Mr. Narsey reiterated the importance of working closely with the Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Industrial Relations in achieving the future plans.
Hon. Minister in his address said that FCEF has been a responsible organization and his leadership will see that a very important component of the nation, “the employers”, are well looked after.
The Hon. Minister also said it is important that there is a balance between how the workers and employers are looked after and a need for all to work together to achieve results.
This year the Federation plans to look into one of the significant challenges of labor mobility scheme that private sectors encountered in 2022.
The Federation also discussed the importance of looking at the productivity of the nation which was acknowledged by the Hon. Minister.
FCEF Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kameli Batiweti said FCEF will continue to work with various partners in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, through programs like Fiji Enterprise Engine and Business Assistance Fiji and further strengthen their presence in Fiji’s economy.
He also mentioned that after a successful Top Executive (TOPEX) Conference in 2022, the Federation will work on the outcomes of the conference and include them in trainings allowing for more consultative opportunities for our members with relevant stakeholders this year.
The Federation is thankful for all the partnership and assistance the previous Government had provided them over the years.
