Our Story

How it all began

Established in 1960, the Fiji Employers Consultative Association (FECA) was a registered private company.

In 1991, FECA underwent a transformation by amending its Memorandum and Articles of Association, resulting in a name change to Fiji Employers Federation. This new name was considered more suitable to reflect the organization’s activities and operational approach.

When FECA was initially established, it comprised 21 member organizations. By early 2008, the Fiji Employers Federation had grown to encompass 518 members and affiliates, representing a wide spectrum of entities ranging from small private companies to large public corporations. Additionally, local urban government authorities and statutory bodies were included among the members. Overall, these members collectively represented over 78,000 employees.

Membership to the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation is open to any organization that is registered as an employer with the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF). The Federation’s members span across various sectors of private enterprise, including statutory undertakings and government-owned corporations involved in public sector activities.
